Willa Mae Golden Teacher Training Scholarships

As part of our efforts to increase the pipeline of Black Montessori educators in the US and overseas, we created our most highly sought after Willa Mae Golden Teacher Training scholarship to provide support for Black teachers to access MACTE-accredited training programs or AMI or AMS.

Selected applicants will receive $2,000, which will be sent directly to the training programs to support teachers with the cost of training. Money can be used toward fees and books and materials as well as housing and transportation to attend the in-person part of the courses. We have awarded more than $95,000 in Teacher Training Scholarships since 2020.

Additionally, we aim to support teachers through their training by providing resources, job listings, ongoing professional development opportunities, and a community of support. Through the generosity of our partner Barbara Murphy of Montessori Wellness, winners will be able to access the online self-paced Montessori Wellness course for free.

Eligibility Requirements

• Identify as Black

• Proof of acceptance into a MACTE-accredited Montessori training program or AMI or AMS

• Financial plan to complete the training

We only provide funding for those attending MACTE-accredited training programs or AMI or AMS.
