Jennifer McCord, M.Ed. Faculty in College of Education
Jenny McCord, M.Ed., is a dedicated educator with over 20 years of classroom experience and a deep passion for advancing Montessori education in public school settings. She began her academic journey at the University of Texas at San Antonio, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an Early Childhood endorsement. She later pursued a Master’s degree in Education with an ESOL endorsement from Western Oregon University, driven by a desire to support diverse learners.
A strong advocate for educational equity and innovation, Jenny McCord was instrumental in the development and founding of a public charter Montessori school, working in partnership with parents and professionals in the community. After earning her Montessori Certification for Lower Elementary through the Houston Montessori Center (HMC), she joined the school as a founding teacher, welcoming its first students. The school remains a thriving educational community today, a reflection of her commitment to sustainable, community-driven education.
Currently, Jenny McCord serves as a Team Lead teacher for lower elementary students in a public Montessori school. She is passionate about cultivating inclusive, peaceful, and student-centered learning environments. She believes that strong collaboration among educators builds a broader sense of family among staff, which in turn fosters unity and emotional well-being in the student body.
A former public school student herself, Jenny McCord is deeply committed to making Montessori education accessible to all children. Her dedication is also personal—she and her husband have raised three sons who have all attended public Montessori schools, giving her unique insight into the experience of Montessori education both as a teacher and a parent.
When she’s not teaching, Jenny McCord enjoys spending time outdoors and listening to music—both of which fuel her sense of peace and creativity.
