Nicole Evans, Ed.D. (She/Her)Faculty in College of Education
Dr. Evans is an accomplished education professional with a remarkable 28-year career dedicated to transforming educational environments. Her diverse experience encompasses roles as a teacher, assistant principal, principal of a public Montessori ABAR (Anti-Bias Anti-Racist) school, and executive director of urban education at an HBCU, all within St. Louis, Mo. Currently, she serves as the Senior Director of Leadership with Embracing Equity.
Dr. Evans’ work in the Montessori community began with her experience as a leader of a public Montessori school and extended to the support of establishing Montessori for Social Justice, serving as the keynote speaker at the 2023 MSJ conference, serving as a keynote speaker at St. Kate’s, serving as a keynote speaker at Wisconsin Montessori Association, presenting at AMI national conferences, AMS national conferences, and also leading several Montessori schools through a yearlong Leadership Residency Program.
Dr. Evans’s unwavering commitment to her hometown of St. Louis has made a significant impact on the community. She was featured in an article by Humans of St. Louis, where she eloquently shed light on the persistent inequities in education. This recognition highlights her invaluable insights and expertise in addressing these challenges.
In addition, Dr. Evans has garnered well-deserved acclaim for her contributions. She was honored as a Power 100 awardee by St. Louis’s prestigious Delux Magazine, a testament to her influential presence in the field. Furthermore, she has been bestowed the Women Who Inspire Award, recognizing her outstanding leadership and inspirational impact on others.
With a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Dr. Evans has long prioritized equity in education, shaping her career trajectory and advocacy efforts. Her formative years were spent immersed in education, as she closely observed and learned from her role model, her father, who was an educator. This early exposure fueled her passion and guided her unwavering dedication to the field.
Currently, as the Senior Director of Leadership, Dr. Evans spearheads a year-long Leadership Residency program. Collaborating with national leaders and the Embracing Equity team, she is at the forefront of driving transformative change in adults, organizations, and learning environments. Her ultimate goal is to empower students to reach their fullest potential by creating inclusive and equitable educational settings.
